My great-grandfather, Thomas Stone, and his wife Maria (pronounced Mariah),
came to the United States from London, England in the late 1880s.

They had 10 children, the youngest of whom was my grandfather,
who they named William Gladstone after the four-time Prime Minister of England.

Thomas was a decorative plasterer in London and when he and Maria came to America,
they settled in Baltimore to raise their children, some of whom had already passed
before my grandfather was born.

Thomas continued his trade in Baltimore, where some of his craftsmanship can still be seen
in such distinctive places as the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore.

I've been to England twice and it seemed so natural to drive on the left-hand side of the road,
and The Tube and trains make getting around the country so easy, it sure feels like home!

Here are some great web sites to visit if you're any kind of Anglophile like I am.

But first, may I vent for just a moment?  Greenwich Mean Time (aka GMT) is on the prime meridian, zero longitude, the time by which all clocks around the world are set.  It does not change... EVER!  Not when we set our clocks ahead or behind for Daylight Savings or any other time of the year!  There!  Whew, I feel better now.  Now, on to those links.
